Ebenyo wins first medal for Kenya in Budapest

Daniel Simiu Ebenyo salut the fans in Kasarani stadium during Kip keino classic continental tour in Nairobi. 


Commonwealth Games 10,000M silver medalist Daniel Simiu Ebenyo won the first medal for Kenya at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The Africa 5,000m silver medalist won silver in 27:52.60 behind multiple champion Joshua Cheptegei who won gold in 27:51.42 with Ethiopian Seleman Barega winning bronze at 27:52.72.

Ebenyo sprinted towards 100m to the finish almost catching Cheptegei with a microsecond.

Other Kenyans Bernard Kibet was 5th at 27:56.27 and Nicholas Kimeli Kipkorir in 8th position after clocking 28:53.38
