Kipkoech won the men’s 10km race in a thrilling sprint finish, clocking 31:49 to edge Cornelius Konor by just one second. Sammy Kapserem completed the podium in 31:51. The 20-year-old, who trains in Iten, improved on his third-place finish from last year.
In the women’s 10km, Ndiema made an impressive senior debut, storming to victory in 35:44. Brenda Jepchirchir followed in second place in 36:08, while Faith Cherono settled for third in 36:39. The win came shortly after Ndiema narrowly missed selection to Kenya’s squad for the World Cross Country Championships in Florida.
The junior races also produced strong performances. Local favorite Kelvin Kariankei thrilled home fans by winning the men’s U20 8km title in 25:20, ahead of Emmanuel Kipchirchir and Alex Pelor. In the women’s U20 6km, Joan Chepkurui dominated to claim victory in 21:34, finishing ahead of Mercy Kirwa and Fancy Chepkorir.
The event once again lived up to its reputation, attracting emerging talent and delivering competitive races and strong finishes across all categories.
