Kenyan distance running star and multiple world record holder Beatrice Chebet has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by the University of Kabianga, recognising her transformative contribution to global athletics and her role as an inspiration to young athletes.
The honour was conferred on Friday during the university’s 13th graduation ceremony, where Chebet was celebrated not only for her excellence on the track but also for her influence as a global ambassador for Kenyan athletics.
Chebet, who has risen to become one of the world’s most dominant long-distance runners, holds world records in the road 5km and women’s 10,000m. Her performances at the World Championships, World Cross Country Championships and Diamond League circuit have cemented her status among Kenya’s all-time greats.
Chebet thanked the university for the recognition, saying the award motivates her to continue using sport as a platform to inspire future generations.
