Kenya is ranked second in the ongoing World Athletics Champonships in Tokyo

 


Kenya is currently ranked second in the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, with a total of 6 gold medals, 2 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals. The United States is leading with 12 gold medals. 

Gold Medals:

    - Beatrice Chebet: Women's 10,000m and Women's 5000m

    - Peres Jepchirchir: Women's Marathon

    - Faith Kipyegon: Women's 1500m

    - Faith Cherotich: Women's 3000m Steeplechase

    - Emmanuel Wanyonyi: Men's 800m

Silver Medals:

    - Dorcus Ewoi: Women's 1500m

    - Faith Kipyegon also won silver in the Women's 5000m, contradicting the initial statement of only 1 silver medal

Bronze Medals:

    - Edmund Serem: Men's 3000m Steeplechase

    - Reynold Cheruiyot: Men's 1500m



The Kenyan delegation, led by Sports Cabinet Secretary Murya, MP Dan Wanyama, AK officials Jack Tuwei and  Barnabas Korir cheered on Kenyan athletes during the finals of the 800m and 5000m events. Today's events include the Men's 800m final, featuring Emmanuel Wanyonyi, and the Women's 5000m final, featuring Beatrice Chebet, Faith Kipyegon, and Agnes Jebet Ngetich
