Kiplagat and Esther Borura are the winners of the opening leg of Athletics
Kenya Cross country weekend meet held at the Machakos People’s Park in
Machakos County.
Following the postponement of the races to
mourn the late Agnes Jebet Tirop, action resumed Saturday and Kiplagat won the men’s 10km title in 29:40.07 ahead of
Vincent Kipkurui (29:42.2) and Fredrick Domongele completing the podium in
30:08.0.

In women’s 10km, Borura emerged the winner clocking
34:07.4 beating Caren (34:28.52) and
Valentine Jepkoech (34:47.47) for third position.

Reigning Africa Junior 3000m bronze
medallist Gideon Rono was the winner of 8km junior men when he clocked
23:29.6 ahead of Parkesh Gasha timing 23:42.4, while Gideon Kipngetich followed
in third clocking 23:42.4.
In junior women, Janet Jepkoech was the
victor in 20:50.6 beating Sharon Chepng'etich to second in 21:12.5 and Yvone
Chepchirchir in 21:20.7.
