World record holder Beatrice Chebet has secured Kenya’s first gold medal at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Chebet stormed to victory in a fiercely contested women’s 10,000m final, stopping the clock at 30:37.24. She edged out Italy’s Nadia Battocletti, who finished second in 30:38.23, while Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay claimed bronze in 30:39.65.
Chebet’s triumph not only reinforces her dominance on the global stage but also sets the pace for Kenya’s medal hunt at the championships.
