Mbagari ready to rumble in Thika

The national 100m and 200m champion Esther Mbagari ready to shine at The second leg of Athletics Kenya track and field weekend meet at Thika stadium this Friday. 

Mbagari said she is focusing on representing the country at the Global stage.

After the cross country season which ended with the Sirikwa classic cross country continental tour on Saturday last week the athletes will be focusing on making team Kenya for the World Athletics championships in Tokyo, Japan (Road to Tokyo) later this year.

“My dream now is to represent my country at the World championships and time is now, I will be focusing on my training so that I will be able to make the team.” Said Mbagari as the busy 2025 started in Mumias.

The Kenya Prison officer said they are early in the stages of the season still loading but going forward her coach has good plans for the training.

In Mumias 100m she was beaten by Eunice kadogo Murandafu timed 12.2 , while Mbagari clocked 12.3 as her cousin Brenda inziano Masitsa  was third timed 12.4.

"In Thika i want to perform well trusting my preparation and training, I'm going to give good results." Said Mbagari as she started with a win in her favourite 200m in Mumias complex stadium. 

Her cousin Masitsa is also aiming to do well in Thika, coming off from knee injury she got last season. 

 "I have just recovered from injury i got ,but the time we are in Thika i will have improved on blocks and claim victory in 200m." Said Masitsa. 

The two day event will see athletes compete various track events and field at Thika Stadium.

On Thursday athletes will pick their bib numbers and verification.

The athletes will compete both men and women in 100m,200m ,10,000m,3000m, 1500m ,400m , 400m hurdles and 10000 Race walk,hammer,discuss and javelin
