Simiu and Ayango Shines at Sirikwa classic cross country Gold tour

World half marathon silver medalist Daniel Ebenyo Simiu and 2019 Africa under 20 3000m silver medalist Immaculate Anyango rule the roost at Sirikwa classic cross country gold label at Lobo village, Eldoret. “I felt unwell while running I had a stitch in the stomach almost leaving the race but am happy I overcame and at last I won.” Said Simiu In women category Anyango braced the tape timing 32.55 ahead of Joyciline jepkosgei clocking 33.10 while Catherine Reline was placed third clocking 33.18 to close the podium.
Anyango said hard work has paid off, she trained and prepared herself in Iten for the this race. “I have been working hard in my training and preparation and winning today is pure hard work” said Anyango. Race director Barnabas Korir encouraged athletes to also compete in cross country which helps in training as you prepare for other competitions. “This is part of an athlete training, cross country builds you, builds the muscles and which will help you to gauge your speed when compete at the track." said Korir.
